karachi port

So much history here. The Karachi Port has been a place of refuge for merchants, a gateway to colonization, and a hub for trade and business.

Karachi's previous names included "Kolachi" in the mid 18th century, and it's current name "Karachi" came from a mispronunciation in a Dutch report about a shipwreck near the settlement.

I also learned that during the American Civil War, the Karachi Port served as the main source of cotton to the British, replacing the formerly monopolized American cotton.
